Computer played a Very Big Role in our life. It is very useful device for human beings. As you know, There are so many files in our computer, which are private. In that case we need password protection or hide option for the same. Generally there is hidden folder option available for us in Our Computer. Just like this…..

Go to the My computer àD: drive à folder (you want to hide), then right click on it, go to properties in General tab in attributes tick mark on hidden. The folder will be hide. Any one can find/view this hidden folder. So you need extra protection.

For that purpose you will need to download or buy a new software to protect your folder or file. That is very costly. So, at here I am going to explain very simple method for hide your folder without any additional software. With the help of DOS (disk operating  system) you can hide your folder.

Steps for hide your folder….

1.    Go to start click on run from desktop.

2.    Type cmd or command and press Enter. (command prompt will open)

3.    Go to selected folder’s drive. If your folder in “D” drive then just type d: and press Enter. You can also select specific root with the help of “cd\” command.

4.    When you reach your specific folder then type the below command. (at here I assume my folder name is “technical tips”, which I want to hide.)

Attrib(one space)"technical tips"(one space)+r(one space)+a(one space)+s(one space)+h

Then Enter…..

Your folder will be hide.

Tips :

1.    At above command word (Attrib) first letter must be capital letter.

2.    One space is required as shown in above example after every word.

3.    The command must be with double quote for your folder name. (ex: "technical tips") 

Steps for unhide your folder…..

1.    First of all reach at your specific hidden folder in dos.

2.    Then type below command.

Attrib(one space)" technical tips "(one space)–r(one space)–a(one space)–s(one space)–h

Hit the Enter……

        Your folder will be  unhide.

Tips :

When you are using this method this is very important to memorized which folder  was hidden by you, other wise that may be lost. And for that purpose just copy the path of the hidden folder in one word file & save it at secure place or protect it as explained below.

After copying your path in MS word go to Tools Menu then go to Protect document and give the password at there then save the word file.
